In An Oslo Garden

This is a bit of a change from our normal work.  We were staying with Paul’s cousin Gro who has a beautiful garden in Oslo – and the sun shone the whole time.  So, we had an excellent opportunity to experiment with some macro  photography.  Oh, and we have included some colour…

Close-up of a member of the onion family – allium.

I think this is actually a weed but I loved the structure and the colour.

This is the allium again.

Again, not sure what this bee is sipping his nectar from but it was an apian favourite.

Normal black and white service is resumed – this is the blue weed again, also a favourite with bees.

This one we recognised – the poppy.

Similarly, we could name this, the common dandelion.

After all that photography, the well-placed deck chair was pretty inviting.

We managed to see some more rare (if that’s not an oxymoron) Nacreous Clouds at sunrise today, over the Edinburgh skyline, with Calton Hill, Arthur’s Seat and the church tower of Broughton St Marys visible. Again, the colours were constantly changing and looked weird.

Rare Nacreous Clouds at sunset today, over the Royal Observatory on Blackford Hill. Just about managed to stay upright in the howling gale to get a shot or two. Colours were constantly changing and looked weird.

Rainy Reflections .@Fujifilm_UK .@HN_Edinburgh #Edinburgh #Photography knicksen.com

I have just switched from a Nikon (D3200) to a Fujifilm (XE-2) camera and now getting used to new buttons and dials. As we had some rain, I was doing soggy testing (me, not the camera), at least  with the benefit of some nice reflective surfaces. The Fuji is much smaller and lighter than the Nikon, but, so far, I’m impressed with the quality of the images and, as previously posted, the low light capabilities.

This is St Andrews Square in central Edinburgh, looking across the tram tracks, towards the Harvey Nichols shop.
