Dotted around the city are these strange stone windows. Yup, stone windows through which you can see bugger all. I’m sure a google search will elicit the apparent truth, but my recollection from what I was told by the friend of a pal who met someone in the pub is that there was a window tax and these were to reduce costs…so it says here.

Actually, those knowledgeable people at Lost Edinburgh will probably know. Must ask them.
